Arts & Crafts Block Prints Wall Calendar: Twenty-seven when he came to California, artist, author, craftsman, and teacher William Seltzer Rice (American, 18731963) traveled, sketched, and painted throughout the state to familiarize himself with its history, flora, and fauna. In 1910 Rice moved to the San Francisco Bay Area, where he was active in the flourishing Arts and Crafts movement. Talented in several mediums, he devoted himself to block printingdesigning, carving, and printing the blocks himselfas a way to bring original art within reach of many people.
